We are currently seeking to recruit a General Manager for GHQ, Edinburgh’s leading Gay Bar/Club.

As a General Manager there will be an expectation that the successful candidates have the abilities to:-

• Meet expected deadlines
• Keep abreast of legislative law affecting the licensed trade
• Develop the unit with forward thinking ideas
• Keep on top of current market trends
• Develop sales intake
• Control stocks levels effectively
• Regularly train staff to expected licensing trade standards

These are exciting opportunities for highly motivated individual’s therefore proven experience of managing and developing licensed premises is essential for the role. 

You must also be able to lead and motivate a team, and communicate with people at all levels including the Police and Licensing officials, therefore excellent communication skills are essential.

You will be committed and competitive, have a strong commercial knowledge base and be willing to lead a forward thinking operation.

DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER – Committee Room 9


Located at the edge of the Merchant City and next to the City Chambers, Committee Room 9 is a traditional Glasgow pub.
Offering a cosy warm, traditional welcome, fantastic value, some of the best pub food you’ll ever try (our fish and chips wrapped in the paper is fast becoming legendary!), fine wines, quality draught beers and spirits and a memorable experience.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic assistant manager to join our budding team and as Deputy General Manager you will play an important role in supporting the General Manager in the day to day running of the Unit.
You will primarily be challenged with growing sales, and ensuring that costs are kept within budget.  However, importantly, you will also be responsible for ensuring staff training is delivered consistently and regularly to guarantee quality food and beverage produce, great service and impeccable front and back of house standards. In particular we are looking for someone with strong high volume bar experience.

When the General Manager is out of the business, Deputy General Managers will be expected to take over the full responsibility of managing the Unit.

The ability to communicate and manage people at all levels is essential.  Commercial awareness is also an important attribute, as is the ability to work within strict deadlines.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of all Licensing, and Health & Safety legislation, and also be PC literate

ASSISTANT MANAGER – The Victoria, St Andrews


Our landmark white building in the centre of this historic town has been extensively refurbished to provide the perfect location to relax with friends and family over a snack or meal in the cafe bar, or party the night away with the best light and sound system in St Andrews in the Cabin.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic assistant manager to join our budding team and as an Assistant Manager; you will play an important role within the management team.
You will be challenged with supporting sales growth, the control of costs, achievement of margins, and also ensuring staff training is delivered to guarantee quality food, great service and impeccable standards.

During the absence of senior management, Assistant Managers may be required to assume responsibility for specific shifts, therefore you will be willing to accept this responsibility and not be averse to making decisions.

Excellent bar and restaurant supervisory experience is necessary, preferably in a high volume environment.

You must be able to communicate at all levels, be effective when managing people, be dedicated and have strong commercial awareness.

G1 are looking for an energetic and creative designer to join the growing Web & Digital Department.
The role will involve designing, building and maintaining websites for the 40+ G1 venues as well as working closely in supporting the marketing department.
The role is perfect for an individual that wishes to expand their portfolio with many varied and creative projects in a fast paced and rewarding environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years' commercial experience, show a flair for innovative and creative designs.
The individual will show a good understanding of web technologies and web trends and have an excellent knowledge of CSS and html.

Responsibilities:
Design and build high quality innovative web sites in html and css
General upkeep and maintenance of an extensive and varied online presence
Support the marketing department in the deployment of online campaigns
Creation of email templates and online marketing material

We are seeking a candidate who can or has:
Experience with working around dynamic templating systems (php/asp)
Work to tight deadlines and schedules but still maintain strict attention to detail
Work in a highly motivated and fast moving environment without losing sight of the goals
Display a high level of creativity and innovation
Ability to work as part of a larger team but equally confident in working independently on set projects
Knowledge of current and past web trends and technologies
Experience of user interface design
Excellent written communication skills
Web Design Best practice experience
Willingness to try and work with new technologies

Core software requirements are:
Excellent CSS and html skills
FTP
Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver / Fireworks / Photoshop)


A folio of examples must be presented.
Although 2 years commercial experience is preferred exceptions will be made for the candidate displaying creativity and flair.

As Head Door Steward your main role will be to ensure that Common is a safe and secure place for customers and staff alike.  Your role is crucial in ensuring that the venue maintains its excellent reputation for customer service within the marketplace.

You will meet and greet prospective customers in a courteous, friendly manner, and ensure that the door steward’s working with you consistently deliver your high standards of customer service.

An excellent people manager you will be capable of recruiting and maintaining an industry leading team of door stewards. Your remit will include the organization of this team, and you will liaise closely with the venue management team while doing so.

At least a years proven experience of working in high volume late night venues is essential, and you will have an understanding of Licensing regulations.

With an impeccable presentation and excellent communication skills, you must hold a current SIA personal licence.
